Central Otago, experienced through wine, food, and place.
Overview
Roam Central is our flagship consumer event and a vibrant celebration of Central Otago’s wine, food, and dramatic beauty. It brings together local wineries, chefs, and artisans to showcase the region in a way that highlights its unique character while connecting people more closely to Central Otago and its wines.
Held every two years in Central Otago, Roam Central is a curated programme of tastings and experiences hosted across multiple wineries and venues. The format is intentionally flexible, allowing each edition to evolve in response to the region, the wines, and the people involved.
Roam Central will return in 2027.
Connecting wine, place, and people
Roam Central is a way for us to welcome visitors into the region, hosting experiences across Central Otago that are grounded in place. It offers a chance to experience the region firsthand, meet the people behind the wines, and engage directly with Central Otago’s landscapes, hospitality, and community.
Roam Central is designed to evolve over time, ensuring each edition reflects where Central Otago is today.

Roam Central 2025
2025 saw Roam Central return as a more focused two-day event held on 15 and 16 February. The programme brought together 30 wineries and introduced a refined lineup of events, including wine exploration experiences, long lunches, formal tastings, gourmet dining, and a Grand Tasting. The weekend was designed to give guests multiple ways to engage with the region, meet winemakers, and explore Central Otago wines in a range of settings.

Roam Central 2023
2023 marked the inaugural Roam Central, a four-day festival celebrating Central Otago wine and cuisine across the region. The programme included a flagship wine and food festival in Gibbston, alongside a series of smaller, more intimate events. These ranged from masterclasses and cellar door tastings, to restaurant collaborations across the region, and vineyard brunchs hosted among the vines.
